Lower and Middle School Dean of Student Life Carol Van Zalingen on "Want to raise empowered women? Start in middle school."

As the Lower and Middle School Dean of Student Life, I assist girls with a variety of challenges from how to manage telling a friend she has hurt their feelings, to finding effective strategies to be more successful in a class rather than assuming they just "can’t do it," to handling the pressures they often feel from parents and even from themselves to excel and be the best at everything.  Encouraging girls to live healthy, balanced, and empowered lives is something we can all help support by remembering some helpful strategies like the ones suggested in this article from the Washington Post entitled "Want to raise empowered women? Start in middle school."
