Upper School Chamber Orchestra's Take on 90's Favorites
In one of our most spirited assemblies, the Upper School Chamber Orchestra gave us a preview of their upcoming concert. This was held in November 2016, in the midst of a very intense presidential election season. Students opened with a cover of Beck’s Tiny Cities and the assembly reached its height during their version of Rage Against the Machine’s Testify. The orchestra improvised a 4-part band to cover the sounds of drums, bass, Tom Morello’s guitar and Zack de la Rocha’s vocals bravely interpreted by Amari G. '17 and Melissa B. '19. This song received a standing ovation and set the stage for the rest of the assembly – enthusiastic and full of expression. View the Testify performance below.
There was spontaneous dancing, clapping, cheering, and the show concluded with the entire auditorium singing Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself in unison. It was truly an event for students, by students. View the full trailer below.
