Greek & Roman Initiation 2019
Posted 09/19/2019 05:54PM

Congratulations to our new students, faculty, and staff who were initiated into their Greek or Roman families today! The Associated Student Body took the whole school under the sea for a Spongebob-themed initiation ceremony (wearing some AMAZING costumes), followed by a relay race complete with krabby patties and jellyfish! The Romans won this round, which is the first of many friendly competitions that will take place throughout the school year.

At the beginning of every school year since 1923, new students, faculty, and staff members have been sorted into either Greek and Roman families, an affiliation that lasts a lifetime (and is even passed down to family members). Initiation day is always a spirited affair, with the Greeks decked out in blue and Romans sporting yellow as they welcome their new initiates by competing to see who can cheer the loudest!

Throughout the school year, Greeks and Romans battle for points in an effort to win the trophy that is awarded to the team with the most points at the end of the year. Competitions include school-wide activities ranging from athletic competitions to who can donate the most canned goods at Thanksgiving. We can't wait to see who will win in 2020!
