WPA General Meeting
Tuesday, January 16
Reception, 6:30 pm | Presentation, 7 pm
SPEAKER: Edina Lekovic (Director of Policy & Programming at the Muslim Public Affairs Council)
At Westridge we strive to develop in students an awareness of their responsibilities as global citizens through developing their cultural knowledge, understanding, and empathy. We infuse the core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, and inclusion into all aspects of the community, including our work with students and families. Part of this endeavor includes connecting with community members who can provide us with mirrors and windows into the lives of the diverse voices and perspectives that are an integral part of our society.
In the spirit of this mission, Westridge is pleased to host Edina Lekovic, a leading voice on American Muslims and an inter-community builder between diverse faith traditions. Ms. Lekovic will speak at the WPA meeting about the volatile political environment of our country today and its impact on feelings of freedom, security and belonging. A growing number of minority populations, who are our friends and neighbors, as well as members of our community, feel the sting of fear, prejudice, stereotypes and bigotry. During this meeting, Ms. Lekovic, an American Muslim activist, will share stories about impacted communities and also inspiring stories from the rising voices of change makers from these same communities.
Childcare is provided for Westridge students. If you require childcare, please email Lou LaCasse at email@example.com.
