To take a leaf out of our Upper School Yearbook's book, this story is dedicated to the hardworking students in the elective who year over year put out pieces of Westridge history by documenting the school year as seen on Madeline Drive. This year's Inlook will be unveiled in late May and we wanted to give you a peek behind the scenes before its publication.

The process kicks off not at the start of the school year, but actually right after Spring Break the school year prior as staffers begin dreaming of concepts and themes for the upcoming Inlook, a.k.a. Westridge's 200-plus page student yearbook. (Think: workshops, lots of Pinterest boards.) Then, the group participates in a three-day, late-summer camp focused on finalizing the theme and creating senior pages in order to hit the ground running to kick off the year. Editor-in-chief Lindsay B. '25 gave us the inside scoop, and said her focus with this year's theme was to ensure it captured the bold, chaotic, organized, and fun energy of the Class of 2025.

Throughout the year, you can catch staffers snapping photos at major school events—in collaboration with Upper School Art Teacher Shannon Keller—and working in pairs for each spread (two facing pages) in the book. The work is then peer-reviewed by seniors, who help lead the group, and Upper School Computer Science Teacher and Yearbook Advisor Dan Calmeyer. "It's like running a small business," he said.

Lindsay, now in her second year as editor-in-chief, has been part of the program since Middle School Yearbook Club in 7th grade. She enjoys the opportunity to take on photography and graphic design, build on her delegating skills as a leader, and encourage the staff to reach out to all sorts of groups and people on campus.

"[Yearbook] is a great space to talk and meet other people—you have so much free range to showcase the [school] year for people tomorrow, and for people in 10 years even," said Lindsay. "We're very particular!"

While the yearbook staff won't reveal this year’s theme until May 21, they mentioned that the clock is ticking (hint, hint!).
