School may have been out of session, but Westridge students and recent graduates continued to pursue their academic, athletic, and artistic interests over the break—and they got noticed! Tigers in the news this summer include:

Layla R. '27 was profiled for her high achievement in both athletics and STEM in this Outlook story. From earning all-CIF honors in both flag football and lacrosse to solving complex engineering problems in the STEAMWork Design Studio, Layla is, as the article states, a double threat! “People talk about records and rankings, but I’m here to make my team better, and become the best version of myself, on the field, in the classroom and wherever life takes me,” she said.

 

Willow Nauber '25, who is heading to Vanderbilt in the fall to study biomedical engineering. She spent her summer in the lab at Caltech working with a small team of high school students to research PFAs (the "forever chemicals" commonly used in plastic, nonstick cookware, packaging, and more) to figure out how remove them entirely—and get a taste of independent, real-world research! Read more in Drug Discovery News.

 

Sydney Sheldahl '25 released two original songs to raise money for victims of the Eaton Fire, using her musical talent to support and inspire others. “I want people to know the power of emotions and that young people feel a lot of feelings, but that is totally OK,” she told Pasadena Star News in this profile. Sydney will attend Berklee School of Music to study songwriting and music education this fall.
