Congratulations, Tigers! We celebrate the staff members of the Westridge student newspaper, Spyglass, who won an impressive number of awards from the 2026 Private School Journalism Association (PSJA) Journalism Contest and the Quill & Scroll Writing, Photo, and Multimedia Contest. A special shout out to Frances B. '27 (who received first place in the PSJA Social Media Journalist of the Year), Kristin C. '26 (who received second place in the PSJA Features Writer of the Year category), and Micki M. '28 (who received first place in the Quill & Scroll Beginning Writing category) as well as the newspaper's student leadership, which took second place in the PSJA Editorial Leadership category. Read on for more about each contest and the placings:

2026 Private School Journalism Association (PSJA) Contest
Co-sponsored by Quill and Scroll, this contest seeks to honor the best journalism produced by private/independent school students based on a pattern of excellence over the course of a year, per the contest website.

Quill and Scroll Writing, Photo, and Multimedia Contest 
Quill & Scroll encourages, supports, and recognizes individual student initiative and achievement in scholastic journalism across media, per the organization. Of a total of more than 2,300 entries from 150 school, Westridge won a significant number of awards.
