Congratulations to our 52 Latin Club initiates, who were welcomed with a special ceremony organized by club seniors! Initiates walked in to the ominous tune "Carmina Burana: O Fortuna" then, one by one, students came forward to receive a stamp and a formal membership card to the California and National Junior Classical League. Their induction culminated with a sip of "blood" (a.k.a. fruit punch).
All students in Westridge Latin classes are formally initiated into the club; this year's ceremony included new students to the classes as well as those who did not receive a formal ceremony in previous years due to COVID.
As Classical League members, students may attend Latin conventions (such as the Southern California Regional Amici Madness Latin convention students attended in the fall) and are eligible for scholarships if they meet certain criteria.
