Shout out to English Department Chair Jessica Bremmer, whose reflections on Westridge's Banned Books & Censorship course was recently featured on the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) blog: "What Book Bans Taught Me About Being a Teacher."

Bremmer's idea for the Banned Books & Censorship: A Study of the Challenges to Intellectual Freedom course—a Westridge Advanced Course—stems from her tracking of book banning across America and her feeling the need to educate students about its effects on academic freedom. In her blog, Bremmer breaks down how she designed the course, what her class looks like, how she measures student success in the class, and what she has learned from teaching such a course.
