During the 5th annual LatinExcellence assembly, hosted by Upper School Latine Affinity to wrap up our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, affinity heads Carolina A. '28 and Rebecca L. '27 led a Q&A with lawyer and CEO (and Westridge parent!) Gina Zapanta.

The trio discussed Zapanta's unique career path, including her experience as a Latina woman and the life experiences that inspired her to start her own businesses—Z.A. Lawyers (her law firm) and her online platform "Empowered with Gina," where Zapanta speaks on a variety of topics, including women's empowerment, equal pay, representation, and leadership. She also answered questions from students on her law school experience, current immigration policies, and memorable moments from her early career.

Zapanta's advice to Westridge students:

  • Follow your gut, even if it leads you down a nontraditional path to success
  • Get involved through volunteering to make an impact in your local community
  • Be your own biggest supporter—don't forget to give yourself credit for your hard work and remember that success is not linear
