Lower and Middle School closed out Black History Month celebrations with phenomenal and electrifying dance lessons and performances from instructors and dancers at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy! They educated our Lower and Middle School students on jazz, hip hop, tap, and African dance styles through engaging talks and demonstrations that called for participation! Students (faculty and staff included!) took center stage to perform short choreographies they learned on the spot, showcasing their talents and passion in an assembly that brought out immense energy and joy. Afterward, our 7th graders participated in a workshop with the instructors—dancing to the lovely vocals of our Director of Equity, Ian Tatum—which you can view here!

What is the Debbie Allen Dance Academy? The academy—founded by renowned director, choreographer, and dancer (to name a few!) Debbie Allen—uses dance, theater, and performance to enrich, inspire, and transform the lives of its students with a focus on Black and Latino communities.
