Best. Day. Ever! The long-awaited first day of school kicked off Wednesday with Westridge's annual Convocation on Herrick Quad, where students, families, employees, and trustees heard remarks from ASB President Kayla A. '25 and Head of School Andrea Kassar as well as introductions of our new faculty and staff led by division directors.

"As we step into this new school year, I encourage you to be unapologetically yourself,” said Kayla. “Allow yourself to face obstacles head-on, take risks, and even stumble along the way. After all, the hiccups are a part of the process that makes us stronger, more resilient, and more capable.”

The ceremony concluded with a traditional singing of the school song Surgere Tentamus (We Strive to Rise!) led by Music Department Chair Shinnshill Park and guest faculty/staff singers, a rousing chant-off between the seniors and juniors, and a parent reception on Alumnae Courtyard.

As we are unapologetically ourselves this year, let’s also remember to practice deep listening and practice prioritizing curiosity, as Ms. Kassar encouraged in her remarks. Go Tigers!
