It was a beautiful Friday morning as the Class of 2022 and their families celebrated College Commitment Day—a.k.a. "Chalk Day"—last week! This Westridge tradition involves seniors announcing where they are headed after graduation by drawing their college or university logo in chalk on Ayrshire Courtyard. Students worked solo or in groups to finish their drawings before gathering for a sparkling juice toast and cupcakes in celebration.

Later that day, 12th graders gathered on Herrick Quad for College Counseling's annual senior luncheon "Words to Grow By" to celebrate with the junior class and Westridge faculty and staff. To kick off the event, faculty and staff shared words of wisdom—which you can read here—for seniors as they prepare for the next step of their lives.

Also part of the Chalk Day tradition is the Denial Tree. The seniors' college rejection letters are strung across trees on Ayrshire to help normalize to younger students that this is a natural part of the college application process.
