Last week, Peer-to-Peer, the Westridge student-support group, hosted its annual Love Your Body Week, a school-wide effort to raise awareness around issues of body image. Events kicked-off with an Upper School Town Meeting on Monday where students shared thoughts and experiences about a wide range of topics, from body dysmorphia and weight-consciousness to the lack of body diversity in the media. Then, each day, Peer-to-Peer held a lunchtime conversation dedicated to exploring how factors like race, ethnicity, media, and gender influence body image.

“We tried to broaden the audience this year by touching on all different sides of body image issues,” said Anelise P. ’20, one of organizers who spearheaded Love Your Body Week. “There isn’t one ‘right’ way to be in your body so there’s no ‘right’ answer to any of this. We just want to open a discussion, a dialogue surrounding the topic, because it's important to do and it's affecting everyone, in minor or major ways.”

In addition to hosting discussions and events for Upper School students, Peer-to-Peer visited 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes throughout the week to lead discussions and conduct age-appropriate activities around these topics.
