Ms. Husmann’s 7th grade computer science class made the most of being on campus this week by testing out their 3D-printed boats in the fountain on Ayshire Court! This popular annual project asks students to design and construct a 3D-printed boat that is stable enough to survive a wave test by learning and applying engineering and design concepts to a real-life object. If their first boat does not prove seaworthy, students can apply their newfound knowledge to an updated design for a second test run.

Our amazing STEAMWork Design Studio team, David Prince and Mick Lorusso, helped students navigate this nautical project by teaching them to use the 3D design software remotely, and then 3D printing the two versions of students' boat designs to ensure that this year’s 7th grade class didn’t miss out on this beloved project.
