Through theatre at Westridge, students learn creativity, collaboration, and the importance of ensemble.

They grow to understand theatre as a discipline that involves focused commitment and a powerful sense of both personal and shared accomplishment. Most importantly, students continue to develop their own creative voice and personal agency.

During Middle School, 7th and 8th grade students may elect to study theatre in semester-long courses each year. In the spring, Middle School students also have the opportunity to participate on- or off-stage in a fully produced play in our black box theatre.

In Upper School, we offer courses in Acting, Theatre Production, Costume Construction, Fundamentals of Costume Design, and Technical Theatre. The Upper School presents three productions each year, including two main stage productions and one black box production.

Whether a student is interested in pursuing serious study in the theatre, or simply looking for a fun and rewarding extracurricular activity, our theatre department has something for everyone!
