We believe the arts provide the world with a universal language.
Our deep and committed involvement in the performing and visual arts is a powerful way in which we develop self-expression. Through art, students explore beauty, the spectrum of human emotion, and how creativity connects us. The work and practice of the arts teach patience and perseverance, collaboration, and the ability to accept and learn from critiques.
There are endless ways for students to get involved in the visual and performing arts at Westridge. Our program is process-oriented, teaching students that the discovery and growth that occurs while making art is just as important as the final product. As in all our programs, students have ample opportunities for leadership through participation in the arts—from directing a theatre production or organizing an art show, to choreographing a dance number or serving as concert mistress in Chamber Orchestra. Young artists of all levels of experience are welcome to explore, hone their skills and technique, and find their creative voice.
Our Performances & Exhibitions
We stage four theatre productions each year that are attended by our whole community, and an annual dance concert showcasing student talent in a variety of genres (including hip-hop, modern, ballet, jazz, and traditional cultural dance). Our fall and spring concerts feature highly anticipated performances from Lower School strings and choir, Middle School orchestra and choir, and Upper School orchestra and choral ensembles. Visual art students produce annual art exhibitions that showcase their understanding of design concepts and their mastery of art mediums like drawing and painting, ceramics, digital media, photography, and 3D design.
