Grades 4, 6, 7, and 9 serve as the main entry points to the school. Admission into non-entry grade levels is dependent upon available space and evaluated each year.

Our Lower School program (grades 4-6) can accommodate approximately 110 students. How we meet that goal each year can depend upon the applicant pool, space on campus, and the needs of our program. Typically, we have 30 openings in 4th grade and 20 in 6th grade, and we anticipate this will remain the case for the 2024-2025 school year.

The Middle School and Upper School entry points can also fluctuate each year based on current enrollment and the needs of our program. For the 2024-2025 school year, we estimate 15 openings in 7th grade and 20 openings in 9th grade.

Westridge highly values community and the parent/school partnership for the support of our students’ daily lives. International students are welcome to apply, but as a day school with no boarding facilities, Westridge expects all students to live locally with their parent(s). We do not issue I-20 visas and do not offer any English language assistance for students. Given the rigor of our curriculum, it is essential for students to be fully fluent in English.

Since its founding, Westridge’s mission has been to provide gender equity in education. Westridge centers girls: their learning, their contributions, and their well-being. Gender inequity exists in the “real world” and unfortunately, these inequities are often mirrored in coed classrooms in ways that reinforce them. At Westridge, every member of an advanced STEM class is a girl – therefore our students don’t see themselves as an exception to any rule. They gain practice and confidence to excel in anything they love because they know they belong, and they use that robust self-concept to inhabit the world outside of Westridge. Elective theatre coursework begins in Middle School and the 8th grade play serves as the first major performance opportunity for Westridge students. Beginning in 9th grade, the theatre department hosts three productions a year. Learn more about our theatre program here.

In 6th grade, there are occasional opportunities for tournaments with other schools.  Middle School after school sports teams compete in the Middle School Independent League. Interscholastic competition-level athletics officially begin in 9th grade, with junior varsity and varsity teams in 13 different sports. Westridge creates a single-gender space for girls to discover themselves so they’re confident in any social, academic, and athletic situation. That does not mean, however, the lives of Westridge girls are void of coed interaction.

Middle School students socialize with boys at dances, community service activities, debate, and San Gabriel Valley Middle School Consortium Activities.

Upper School students are invited to local dances and social events and also participate in activities such as academic and debate competitions and attendance and involvement with local and national diversity workshops, including service organizations.

Westridge has a school uniform to ensure that girls from all socio-economic backgrounds feel unified, comfortable, and focused in the school learning environment.
