At Convocation, Head of School Elizabeth J. McGregor introduced our theme for the 2017-2018 school year - Wellness & Balance - using a stuffed sloth as an illustration for slowing down to bring wellness and balance into our lives. She asked the 4th Grade class to give the sloth a name, and we're excited to announce that we have a new member of our community... Molasses the Sloth!

This summer five future doctors had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the medical profession thanks to an internship created by Dr. Jossalyn Emslie (Westridge Class of '83).

The 75 members of Westridge School's Class of 2017 unveiled the 44 different colleges or universities they will be attending next fall during last month's College Commitment Ceremony while the College Counseling Team released the complete list of schools to which students were admitted at the May Westridge Parent Association Meeting.

Who's that girl? The 6th Grade presented their annual Women of Character & Courage "Wax Museum" in the gym, performing in full costume monologues they'd created in the voices of women from all over the world who made notable contributions to society or accomplished extraordinary goals.

Science teacher Edye Udell formed a Westridge Girls Who Code Club that meets weekly on campus. Although still fairly new to Westridge, the club has had nearly twenty students sign up within the first several months of its existence; Udell says an average of fifteen girls attend meetings regularly.

The Westridge middle school debate team attended the Middle School State Championships at California State University, Los Angeles on May 6 and 7. With 35 schools from across the state and approximately500 competitors, there were fantastic performances all around; Westridge's team took home 14 trophies and placed three Middle School State Champions!

Every year, about 150,000 students take the National Latin Exam at various levels. In order to win an award, one must get at least one more question correct than the national average for that year on the same level test. This year, the Westridge 8th grade Latin students took the level one exam with outstanding results.

On Saturday, April 22, our community hosted the first ever Westridge STEM Expo! With projects from Lower and Upper Schools' Science Olympiad team, Robotics team, and 3D Design class, the event drew over 300 people and raised $300 from a bake sale and plant sale to benefit The Campaign for Female Education.
