The work at the recent 8th grade American Studies Showcase was powerful and creative. Parents, siblings, and friends were immersed in student-curated, designed, and led interactive pop-up museums about the Salem Witch Trials, Japanese American internment camps, McCarthyism, and Post 9/11 America, and heard original compositions scoring Arthur Miller's play The Crucible.

You've heard the saying "It's not the destination, it's the journey." 7th Graders in Mrs. Sanchez-Langley's computer science class learned just that during their final robotics challenge when they were tasked with programming several robots to perform a cooperative activity.

The National Council of Teachers of English announced their 2016 Programs to Recognize: Excellence in Student Literary Magazine awards, and Westridge's Outlook earned 'highest award' honors -- one of two schools to earn the top-ranked accolade in California, and one of just 24 nationally

Amisha Gadani, who teaches 7th grade 2D Art, recently made a guest appearance in Laura Hatchman's 11th and 12th grade Anatomy and Physiology class. Ms. Hatchman had the idea for collaboration early in the year after hearing about Ms. Gadani's background during Opening Days – the week in August before classes start where new faculty and staff are introduced to the community.

An English teacher, an art teacher, and a science teacher walk into a classroom ... No punchline here, just another day in one of Westridge's newest course offering, Perspectives in Literature: Signs, Systems, and Codes, an interdisciplinary Upper School English elective that this semester asks students to approach and analyze literary texts through the lenses of literature, science, and art.

Congrats to seniors Kira O. and Georgia B., who both will continue their water polo careers at the collegiate level. Kira signed her National Letter of Intent to play for Cal Baptist next fall, while Georgia is NorCal bound to play for Cal.
